The American Red Cross is always in need of blood, but the summer holidays bring an increased risk for blood-loss related accidents, increasing the demand for blood as well.
Blood supplies are critically low and Christy Chapman, Communications Manager for the Northern Ohio Blood Services Region, anticipates the blood supplies to decrease even more over the July 4th weekend.
Types O negative, A negative and B negative are in particularly short supply.
The Red Cross is asking for people to please donate blood before this weekend.
