Heavy rains Sunday and early Monday morning has caused some flooding and traffic problems around northeast Ohio.

Some roads closed Monday, forcing morning commuters to use alternate routes and avoid some areas.

In Lakewood, police closed West 117th Street between Berea Road and Madison Avenue. That road re-opened at about 6 a.m.

In Brecksville, Riverview Road was closed north of Vaughn Road, and Vaughn Road was also closed near Riverview.

In Gates Mills, the bridge on Old Mill Road was closed.

High water caused problems on Interstate 71 near West 25th in both northbound and southbound lanes. The highway was not closed, but police are advising driving to watch out for standing water in the area, causing cars to hydroplane. Several drivers on I-71 have reported problems, with problems of standind water near the exit for U.S. Route 42.

Also expect problems and delays on the Innerbelt throughout the morning commute, police said.

On Interstate 77 north and south, the traffic was slow moving and backed up more than most days, drivers reported. The slow downs were caused by areas of standing water on the highway near the exits for Route 21 and Harvard Road. The slow downs were in both directions on the highway, as drivers sprayed water onto the opposite lanes on the highway.
