Between the potholes, construction and months of snow, driving around northeast Ohio can be a challenge.

But at least the drivers are better than those in other cities around the country, according to a new study from Allstate Insurance.

The company has released its seventh annual America’s Safest Drivers Report, and drivers in both Cleveland and Akron are less likely to get into an accident, compared to the national average. [ Click here to view the complete rankings: ]

The study shows that Akron drivers are the 49th best and Cleveland drivers rank 59th best in the country.

In Akron, the average time between accidents is 10.2 years, and the likelihood of an accident is 2.3 percent less than the national average. However, Akron did drop in rankings from last year’s study, where the city was 32nd.

Cleveland drivers have an average of 10 years between accidents, and are 0.2 percent below the national average. Cleveland also dropped compared to last year’s ranking, which was 37th.
