Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur said on Monday that running back Peyton Hillis will not be traded prior to Tuesday’s 4 p.m. NFL trading deadline.

Shurmur also reiterated Hillis suffered a hamstring injury in first quarter of Sunday’s 24-17 loss to the Raiders in Oakland.  Hillis did have an MRI on Monday, but Shurmur wasn’t sure if the running back would be available for next Sunday’s game against Seattle at the stadium.

Hillis has been at the center of controversy and rumors for much of the season.  He wants a new contract, but the team and the running back are believed to be far apart in contract terms.

Hillis also came under fire for sitting out the Dolphins game a few weeks ago at the advice of his agent because the running back had strep throat.
