Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade is adding a new accomplishment to his resume: author.

In his forthcoming book, “A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball,” Wade will write about being a dad to his two young sons as well as his own transformation as a child of a single parent to being a single father, his publicist said.

(We’d like to think it all started at HuffPost, with a father’s day blog he wrote in June of 2009 about ‘Why I Love Being A Dad’.)

Basketball fans will also be able to read about Wade’s basketball career thus far, from playing in Chicago through being a part of the Heat’s Big Three and a member of the American Olympics team.

“As a child, I grew up with aspirations to one day be a professional basketball player, and I am living that dream every day as a proud member of the Miami Heat,” Wade said. “However, the daily role I play in the lives of my two children is the single most significant undertaking of my life, and the job I take most seriously.”

The book will be published by William Morrow of HarperCollins Publishers in September, the Associated Press reports.

Wade won sole custody of his two boys Zion and Zaire in March 2011 after a grueling custody battle with ex-wife Siohvaughn and has since been recognized by national organizations including President Barack Obama’s Fatherhood & Mentoring Initiative.
