You know the saying — it isn’t the heat; it is the humidity.

Unfortunately, we have both coming for Today.

A heat advisory has been issued for Cuyahoga, Lorain, Erie and Huron counties (as well as counties farther west) for late Thursday morning thru the evening.

A heat advisory means the heat and humidity will likely have an impact on your body unless you take precautions to stay cool.

If there is any good news it is that it will be so hot, the humidity may actually be somewhat tolerable.

There are two measures of humidity that are widely recognized – dew point temperature and relative humidity values.

The dew point is literally the temperature at which dew will form.  So, if we have a dew point at 55 and the air temperature cools to 55, dew will form.  While that may not seem very important, it is an easy way to understand just how much humidity is in the air – the higher the dew point the more moisture there is.  Our dew point for Thursday is expected to be in the middle, maybe upper 60s, which is rather high.  When dew points get into the 70s it is downright oppressive.
