Songstress Ledisi recently stopped by the ESSENCE.com office to talk about the inspiration behind her new book, Essence Presents: Better Than Alright: Finding Peace, Love & Power.
She said the project started off as an affirmation. “Everyday I tell myself I am beautiful because the world tells me something different,” she said. “My version of beauty may not be someone’s version of beauty but I always tell myself I am.”
Ledisi goes on to say that she hopes people will be inspired and see themselves in the book. “I’m so proud of it,” she said. “I love that is celebrates myself, and my family and women.”
