NBA Rookie of the Year and Cleveland Cavaliers point guard, Kyrie Irving, broke his right hand Saturday morning, after slapping the padding on the wall in a summer league practice in Las Vegas.

Irving will return to Cleveland today to be evaluated by the Cavs team doctor at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health.  The Cavaliers hope Irving will be ready for the start of training camp in late September, but won’t know an exact timeline on his return until he is evaluated.

Irving was the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.  He averaged 18 points, five assists and one steal last year for the Cavs who finished the year 21-45.
