Cleveland police are investigating the death of a 14-year-old girl. The teen and four others were shot at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday near E. 125th Street and Elberon Avenue. The area is on the border of Cleveland and East Cleveland.
Police said the 14-year-old was at party on Elberon Avenue when an argument started between people at the party and others outside the house.
Some of the party attendees went outside and that’s when shots were fired toward the group.
The 14-year-old, identified as Lateavia Williams by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, was shot in the neck and died.
“She was her mom’s only daughter and was taken away in such a tragic, tragic way. She didn’t even have a chance to live,” said Shatavia Cooper, a close friend of Williams family.
A 15-year-old boy was also shot in the neck and is at a local hospital. His condition is unknown.
A man, woman, and another juvenile male were also shot. They were all treated and released from MetroHealth.
Police believe there was more than one shooter.
Meanwhile, a memorial Facebook page has been set up for Williams. It’s gained more than 1,000 likes.
