If you’re planning on taking public transportation to the Feast of the Assumption or any local events this weekend, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has some temporary changes beginning on Saturday.
The east side rail will be closed all day Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18-19. Riders can take a bus at their east side Red Line stops (Windermere to Tower City only) and for all Blue and Green Line regular service. The closure is to accommodate ODOT’s work on its Innerbelt Bridge.
While, RTA plans to run replacement buses at every station, riders are encouraged to allow extra time to get to their destination, due to traffic.
Riders who board at Tower City can wait for the buses on Euclid Avenue at Ontario Street, in front of the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland. Buses will be appropriately labeled Blue, Green or Red replacement bus services.
If you normally use the Blue and Green Line stations, or Louis Stokes Rapid Station at Windermere, you can ride the HealthLine from Windermere.
The Waterfront Line will operate this weekend using a modified schedule.
Also as a reminder, RTA is planning to make quarterly adjustments on Sunday, Aug. 19, to 24 bus routes. Riders will need to pick up new timetables at RTA’s main office located at 1240 W. Sixth St., the Customer Service Center in Tower City or visit rideRTA.com/schedules . Riders can also call customer service at 216-621-9500 to order a timetable by mail.
RTA said that most changes are minor, but notable changes include:
– Late-night service to and from CLE Hopkins International Airport will be provided by the #22 instead of the #75.
– Northbound buses on the #78 will no longer enter the parking lot of the West 117th Street Rapid Station; they will pick up/drop off on West 117th Street itself. There will also be a different drop/off pick up point at NASA.
– #48/48A University Circle/East 131st: Weekday evening service frequency improved to every 45 minutes, from every hour.
