I’m so proud of BET Sunday Best!! I’m so proud of Joshua Rogers and Alexis Spight!! I’m just proud. LOL!!

The show is getting better and better. People love it and want to be a part. The talent pool for contestants is awesome and the performances from our Gospel artists have been off the chain. Kudos to the BET Sunday Best staff for a job well done! I’m looking forward to season 6.

Now, let’s talk for a bit about the back-to-back episodes from tonight. The show opened with a performance from The King’s Men-Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Donnie McClurkin and Israel Houghton. They sung a medley of all of their biggest hits. The arrangement was bananas!! I loved it!

Some of the songs included were “Stand,” “Friend of God,” “Smile,” Ooh Child” and “The Best In Me”. If this kind of performance is what we have to look forward to during the King’s Men Tour, I can’t wait. It was just stellar.

The two shows were filled with great performances from Kurt Carr, Marvin Winans, Yolanda Adams, Kurt Carr, Tye Tribbett and Ledisi.

The two contestants sung two songs each. Joshua shined on Earnest Pugh’s hit song “Rain On Us.” I especially enjoyed Joshua when he sang “I’m Still Standing.” When he hit that low register at the beginning of the song, I was like, whoa!! I loved it!

Some old fashioned church happened at the end of this song. Kirk brought Alexis aka Baby Girl out to join Joshua and they had a holy ghost dancing good time. I think that normally this would have been edited out, but I’m glad that they left it in.

I loved, loved what Alexis did with “The Power of the Blood” and “Wonder Working Power.” She came out looking very dignified in a church robe but quickly took it off, put on her white glasses and went to work on “Wonder Working Power.” For Alexis’ second song she sung “The Great I Am.” It was good, but I loved the first one better.

Before the winner was announced the contestants sang “Wake Up Everybody” with mentor Kim Burrell. Just wonderful. Kim Burrell is so talented. All three sounded great together. Can’t wait to watch this one again.

Finally, it was time to announce the winner of BET Sunday Best Season 5. After a period of waiting and nervous tension, Joshua Rogers was announced the first male winner. The look on his face was priceless!! Just priceless!

Congrats to Joshua Rogers for winning the Sunday Best prize. Congrats to Alexis Spight for being a stellar contestant throughout the entire competition. Great job to the entire staff of BET.

We’re out until Season 6 of BET Sunday Best!! Thanks for reading.
