Multiple Grammy award-winning R&B legend, Chaka Khan, currently has a Gospel project in the works, set to be released in 2013. Chaka was featured on Richard Smallwood’s “Precious Is Your Name” and Andrae Crouch’s “All Around The World”.

Michael Winans, Jr., a member of the famous Winans family, has officially been charged by the United States government with wire fraud. According to reports, Winans cheated people out of more than $8 million dollars by using a ponzi scheme. He allegedly got the victims, which is said to be over 1,000 people, to invest in Saudi Arabian oil bonds. However, feds say that his oil bonds and investments were all fake, therefore allowing Winans’ to pocket the money. Winans’ attorney claims that his client intends to pay the victims back all of their money.

Music World Gospel recording artist, Le’Andria Johnson gave birth to her fourth child. Johnson’s exuberant message to her fans is, “it’s a healthy baby boy! Thanks for your prayers and support!” Little Caelington Forrest Walker was 6lbs, 14 ozs. Johnson and longtime mate, Forrest Walker are elated at the arrival of their new son. Her debut album sold over 200,000 copies and she took home both the GRAMMY® for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Performance of her hit song “Jesus” and the Best Female Gospel Artist Award for the Digital Gospel Music Awards. Johnson worked throughout her pregnancy recording her live DVD and music video along with several concert performances. She plans to spend a few weeks with her newborn and will then gear up for active promotion and touring for her album due in stores September 18th – Le’Andria Johnson: The Experience.

Legendary drummer, musician Marvin McQuitty passed on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in Houston, TX at the age of forty-six. Drummer Marvin McQuitty, collaborated with everyone from Fred Hammond and Israel & New Breed to Stevie Wonder and Jessica Simpson. The Memorial Service for Marvin McQuitty will be held Monday, September 17th at Grace Church of Humble. There will also be a “Celebration of Life” Service held in Marvin’s hometown of Detroit, MI next Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Straight Gate International Church.

Sarah D. Henson, daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes, recently announced that she is divorcing her NFL linebacker husband Robert Henson after four years. On her personal website, the bishop’s daughter asked for prayer while explaining that her marriage was ending. Henson, who reportedly leads the Women’s Ministry at The Potter’s House in Dallas.

The Final Ballots for the 28th Annual Stellar Awards is now available for public voting. Voting for the First Round Ballots, which were only available for SAGMA members, ended on 8/31/12. You are only allowed to vote for one artist in each category and only 4 votes per household. The Stellar Awards goes down Saturday January 19, 2013 in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry House.

Karew Records and four-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Karen Clark Sheard gave a memorable performances in a tribute to Mariah Carey at the BMI Urban Music Awards at the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles. Carey was the 2012 recipient of BMI’s Icon Music Award.

Bishop Larry Trotter has officially launched New Century Fellowship of Churches and Ministries in Chicago, IL. In less than a month’s time, 54 churches have come on board and connected with the vision and mission of New Century Fellowship of Churches and Ministries. New Century Fellowship has also connected with 2 churches from the United Kingdom. Bishop Larry Trotter along with New Century Fellowship has elected Bishop Jacquelyn D. Gordon as its Second Presiding Bishop.
