1. Last day to register to vote

Board of Elections across Ohio will stay open until 9 p.m. Tuesday for the voter registration deadline. Extended hours expected to bring large numbers of people looking not only to register but vote early.

2. Presidential candidates in Ohio

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will speak Tuesday evening at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. President Barack Obama has an event scheduled for the Oval at Ohio State University in Columbus, where he will be joined by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas.

3. Denny Ross to be sentenced

After a Summit County jury convicted him of murder in the 1999 death of Hannah Hill, Denny Ross will learn his fate Tuesday afternoon. He is not eligible for the death penalty and is already serving prison time for the rape of an Akron woman in 2004, which was committed while Ross was out on bond.

4. Jerry Sandusky sentencing

Ex-Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was convicted in June of sexually abusing 10 boys over 15 years. Some of the victims are expected to speak at Tuesday’s hearing.

5. Man wins roach eating contest, dies

A Florida man ate dozens of bugs, but an entomology professor said the insects are normally safe to eat unless you are allergic. The grand prize was a python.
