1. Voter registration ends

Tuesday was the last day to register for the November election in the state of Ohio. In 2008, 7,173 people in Cuyahoga County had voted early by this point. For this presidential election, that number is at 9,046.

2. Betty Sutton and Jim Renacci debate

Two incumbent representatives forced to run against each other thanks to congressional redistricting in Ohio, Democrat Rep. Betty Sutton and Republican Rep. Jim Rennacci debate at the City Club of Cleveland.

3. Ohio official asks Supreme Court for voting ruling

Secretary of State Jon Husted said he is appealing the ruling by the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals that reinstated early voting to the three days before Election Day. He will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse that decision.

4. Denny Ross sentenced for murder

The man convicted in the 1999 murder of 18-year-old Hannah Hill was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison. Denny Ross is already serving prison time for a 2004 rape case.

5. Sandusky sentenced

Former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison for molesting several boys. He said in court hopefully “something good will come out of this.”
