Verizon’s How Sweet the Sound tour traveled the country for the 5th time in search of the 2012 Best Gospel Choir in America! Bigger and better than ever with the inclusion of community choirs, this year’s competition was one not to be missed!

We’ve got a full recap of the regional contest winners and the Atlanta show which we were privaleged to witness live!

Every event in this tour was extravagantly produced and held at awesome mainstream venues.  This year’s host were Gospel Music Icons Donald Lawrence and Yolanda Adams.  HSTS pulled out all the stops this year by inviting gospel heavyweights Erica Campbell of Mary Mary, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker, VaShawn Mitchell, and CeCe Winans who not only performed but were also judges on this tour.

Not only were the choirs a joy to watch, but Erica Campbell wowed the audience with her soulful rendition of the Hawkins classic, “Changed” while Yolanda and CeCe eached supplied  encouraging ballads. It was Fred Hammond who stole the show, with a crowd pleasing medley of his greatest hits. At the Atlanta stop, we spotted friends to the site Kevin Lemons & Higher who backed up the performing judges. Also in the audience were gospel artists Dottie Peoples, LaShun Pace and OWN TV Star Ms. Robie of “Welcome to Sweetie Pies.” For  your reviewing pleasure, enjoy footage from a few of our favorites and the regional winners who will compete in New York on November 4th when the HSTS finale takes place and the 2012-2013 winner is crowned.
