With superstorm Sandy’s high winds and rain, thousands of people are without power in northeast Ohio. Here is a list of updates as they come into our newsroom:
2:10 a.m.: I-90 from Dead Man’s Curve to East 55th Street will be shutdown in both directions beginning at 4:30 a.m. until further notice, Cleveland police said.
2:01 a.m.: Bay Village police said incoming calls are not working. Call Westlake police at 440-871-3311, if assistance is needed.
1:39 a.m.: The winds in Cleveland right now are stronger than the winds in New York, Boston and Philadelphia, even after Sandy makes landfall on the East Coast, Mark Johnson said. Waves on Lake Erie were 19 to 20 footers.
1:36 a.m.: Broadway Avenue is closed between the Cleveland border around Ella Avenue and Henry Avenue because of High water, one viewer reported.
1:20 a.m.: 119,660 FirstEnergy customers do not have power. For more power outage information, go to http://bitly.com/HPChLP
1:19 a.m.: Some construction debris on the Shoreway eastbound.
1:16 a.m.: The power is out in Highland Heights. Police said they are canvassing for downed trees, but no roads are closed.
1:14 a.m.: Fallen trees shutdown MLK Drive north of Ambelside Drive near University Circle.
1:13 a.m.: Beachwood police said they have received calls about basements being flooded.
1:03 a.m.: According to Montville police in Medina County, several of the developments off of River Styx are without power due to the line down on River Styx Road. These developments include, parts of Turnberry, Emerald Lakes, Rustic Hills, Ridgewood Falls and Montville Lakes.
12:54 a.m.: The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Columbia Road from Lorain County to Medina County is closed due to wires and trees down.
12:44 a.m.: The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said trees were down, but I-77 near Richfield has been cleared.
