FirstEnergy estimates that many customers will still be in the dark until Monday after superstorm Sandy’s high winds knocked down trees and power lines.
In the city of Cleveland, 1,000 Cleveland Public Power customers are without power. The city said 58 crews are working to get full restoration by Friday evening.
Workers were also busy clearing wires on the ground from more than 50 locations, the city said. Cleveland has received about 400 calls for service since the beginning of the storm as they continue to clear trees from blocked intersections.
Lakewood Mayor Michael Summers said crews expect to get high voltage lines fixed on the Gold Coast by 8 a.m. Friday, but secondary lines still need repaired. On nearby Homewood Avenue, three new poles are needed and the material is arriving Thursday night. Repairs there will continue through Friday.
The Illuminating Company released the following list Thursday afternoon, outlining when specific northeast Ohio cities will have electricity restored to a bulk of their customers:
