In 2013, the Cleveland Division of Fire will be only the twelfth fire department in the nation to celebrate 150 years of continuous and dedicated service.

Cleveland is proud of this accomplishment and grateful for the many decades of community support.

To memorialize the rich history, commemorative events and activities will be held in December and throughout next year.

The first of these milestones is December 16, 2012 which commemorates the 150th anniversary of the first employees hired by the Cleveland Fire Department.

On Monday December 17, Mayor Frank G. Jackson joined Cleveland Fire and the Western Reserve Fire Museum and Education Center in kicking off the sesquicentennial celebration and recognizing this historical moment in the rotunda of Cleveland City Hall.
