The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has their plan in place for handling the incoming snow.

ODOT District 12, which handles Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties, will have their crews begin 12-hour shifts at 11p.m. Tuesday night.

The crews will begin to prep roads in Cuyahoga County first, with 53 snowplows out at 11p.m.

In the city of Cleveland, 47 regularly scheduled drivers will report at midnight tonight.

They will begin pre-treating hills and bridges early Wednesday morning. Cleveland’s trucks priority will be to clear primary and secondary roads, then move into residential streets within 24 hours of the snow stopping.

At 4a.m. Wednesday morning, 13 ODOT plows will venture out in Lake County, and 14 will get to work in Geauga County.

ODOT expects the heavy snow to begin after the Wednesday morning rush hour, between 8 and 10 a.m. For those traveling home from celebrating the holidays or those heading back to work after a long weekend we want you to be safe by following these tips:

– KNO B4 U GO: Before leaving home, find out about driving conditions by going to ODOT’s premier website     http://www.BuckeyeTraffic.org

– Know Your Limits: Safe drivers know the weather and their limits. Leave plenty of time to reach your destination safely.

– Don’t Crowd the Plow: Give snowplows room to work. Don’t tailgate or try to pass. Snowplows travel well below the posted speed limit.

Remember:  Ice & Snow…take it SLOW!
