ODOT crews are out in full force as snow continues to fall across Northeast Ohio.

Amanda Lee, a spokesperson for ODOT District 12, says Geagua and Lake Counties are the focus of most attention overnight as blowing snow and low visibility are the main problems there.

Lee says crews have been on 12 hour shifts since Saturday, preparing for the heavy round of winter weather.

ODOT crews in the Akron-Canton area are out in big numbers as well. A spokesman says because the temperatures are so low, road crews are using beet juice to break up snow and ice on the highways.

A spokesperson for AAA says tow truck crews were busy Monday but they weren’t overwhelmed, likely due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Newschannel 5 checked in sheriff’s departments overnight in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties. As of this web posting, no major accidents were reported.
