1. Ravens Surge to Topple 49ers

The Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34 to 31 to win the Super Bowl on Sunday night. The game was interrupted by a nearly 35 minute power outage caused by a power surge shortly after Beyonce’s halftime performance.

2. 8 Dead in Calif. Bus Crash

At least eight people are dead and 38 are injured after a tour bus collided with two other vehicles in Southern California on Sunday night. A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol said the bus driver reported having brake problems as it came down a mountain on State Route 38.

3. Obama Supports Gays in Boy Scouts

President Obama said Sunday that gays should be allowed in the Boy Scouts and women should be allowed in military combat roles. The comment was the president’s first since the Boy Scouts group announced it was considering a policy change.

4. Negotiations Continue in Ala. Hostage Standoff

The FBI said in a statement Sunday that authorities continue to have an open line of communication with Jim Lee Dykes, the decorated Vietnam-era veteran holding a 5-year-old boy hostage in an underground bunker in Alabama. Today marks the seventh day of the standoff.
