Hollywood funny woman Kym Whitley’s reality series “Raising Whitley” premieres on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network on April 20.
The series will air at 10pm ET and be the lead-in to La Toya Jackson’s OWN reality show, “Life With La Toya.”
On “Raising Whitley,” the comedienne chronicles her life as a first-time mom.
Whitley adopted her son Joshua—the biological son of the comedienne’s mentee from the Big Sister program who left the child in the hospital maternity ward with only the Hollywood star’s contact information.
After getting a call from the hospital telling her, “Your baby is ready for collection,” Whitley solicited her chaotic collective of friends—whom she calls “The Village”—to help her raise the child.
The Shaker Heights, Ohio-bred talent is a single mom who has been romantically linked to the rapper Nas and the late R&B singer Gerald LeVert.
In addition to recently starring in the NBC sitcom, “Animal Practice,” Whitley is the voice behind the character Honeybee on the Adult Swim animated series, “Black Dynamite.”
