It’s official. Congratulations are in order for Bishop T.D. Jakes’ eldest daughter Cora and her husband, Richard, whom the family simply calls Brandon. The two have completed the adoption process for their new daughter, Amauri.
The happy mom, who is floating on cloud 9, has been sharing photos on Twitter of the “outstanding, dramatic, beautiful little girl” who stole the couple’s heart, and has been in their care since March 30, 2012.
“I truly cannot remember life before her,” Cora wrote in her online journal, “Fertility Faith,” on Feb. 11, 2013. At that time, she also revealed that she is actively working to conceive.
In light of the young couple’s heart-wrenching struggles with infertility, the addition of Amauri to the family is a welcome celebration in the Coleman household.
“I was twenty-two years old when I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I was twenty-three when I was diagnosed with infertility,” Cora opened up last January.
PCOS impacts a woman’s hormones, causing them to be out of balance. It can cause problems with menstruation cycles and make it difficult to become pregnant. In some cases, small cysts form on the ovaries, affecting as many as 1 out of 15 women.“I was twenty-four when I started my first in-vitro fertilization cycle, and December 19th 2011 at 2:45pm I found out that it didn’t work out, and I was not pregnant. My world in that moment shattered,” revealed Cora.
