Jamal Bryant, Pastor and Founder of Empowerment Temple A.M.E. church will be dedicating his Easter Sunday services to a day of action and support to our community members re-entering society through the prison re-entry system. Easter Sunday, Pastor Bryant is inviting all to participate in the church’s “Resurrection Re-Entry Services.”
Empowerment Temple church has made a conscious decision that on one of the most important holidays on the African Methodist Episcopal calendar that Easter would be a holy day marked with a community mandate. Pastor Bryant’s mission is to improve the outcome of those released from prison returning to their communities as viable citizens. In addition to offering classes that will facilitate job training and job placement. The church has partnered with several Baltimore City re-entry organizations: Center for Urban Families/STRIVE, The Re-entry Center, Jericho Re-Entry Program and Menzfit, Inc.
The message on Easter will be the first in a multi-part series. “Our communities and families are breaking down right before our eyes,” says Pastor Bryant. “We have to make a concerted effort to not only work to stop the pipeline-to-prison cycle, but to assist, retrain, and love our family members being released back into society from jail. My message will not only be of hope, but of action.” says Pastor Bryant. He’s calling on everyone to bring in a new or slightly used business suit and shoes when they come to church on this Easter Sunday.
All members and visitors are being asked to bring donated business attire as an Easter offering during anyone of the three services: 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m at Empowerment Temple AME Church, 4217 Primrose Ave., Baltimore, MD 21215.
