1. North Korea Vows to Restart Nuclear Facilities

North Korea plans to strengthen its nuclear weaponry by refurbishing the nation’s shelved operations. Analysts say the pledge is another step towards spreading North Korea’s message to the world that it is a nuclear power.

2. Kaufman County Gets Interim DA

First Assistant District Brandi Fernandez has been appointed interim district attorney for Kaufman County in Texas after District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife were killed over the weekend. Fernandez will serve the 21-day appointment.

3. Conn. Reaches Tough Gun Laws Deal

Connecticut lawmakers reached a deal on tough new gun legislation. The deal would ban large capacity ammunition magazines, start a new registry for existing high-capacity ammunition and background checks for private gun sales.

4. Angelina Jolie Opens All-Girls School in Afghanistan

Angelina Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, has opened another girls school in Afghanistan. The movie star plans to fund more from the proceeds of a jewelry line that she helped design.
