North Carolina A&T remains on lockdown after a man was seen carrying a gun on campus earlier Friday.
Around 9 a.m., the A&T Police Department received a report of an unknown black male with a rifle in the area of the General Classroom Building.
The unknown suspect is approximately 5’11″ wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans, blue cap and white t- shirt.
Crosby Hall, Merrick Hall and the General Classroom Building have all been evacuated.
The University Police Department is conducting a campus-wide search.
The area near Benbow and Luterhan Street have been “quarantined” while police conduct the search.
A&T Police believe the suspect is likely no longer in the area, however they are still searching.
A&T could not say if the suspect is a student.
Guilford County Schools said The Middle College at A&T, The STEM Early College at A&T, Washington Montessori and Aycock Middle are all on lockdown due to the situation at A&T.
Police have responded and are on the scene.
