There are many bizarre things people do in the name of God, but this
one just might take the cake. There is a growing movement called
“Christian Domestic Discipline” which says the husband, as the head of
the household, must enforce his authority by spanking his wife.
Essentially, it is submission run amuck.
“He has the God-given right to spank his wife if she misbehaves,”
explained Whoopi Goldberg on a recent episode of ABC’s “The View.”
Outraged, Christian co-host Sherri Shepherd chimed in, “I just want to
put out there, that is not a Christian movement. First of all, I get so
tired of people, just because they say they’re Christian and they have
this movement [it is a Christian thing]. That is not a Christian
movement, so we’re not owning that.”
