Angela Simmons, the 25-year-old daughter of the famed Run DMC rapper-turned-reverend known as Rev. Run, recently opened up about the judgement she receives for being a Christian.
Simmons, the new co-host of BET music video countdown show 106 & Park, spoke about people believing she is not a fun person because of her Christianity.
“Well I think with religion, people are just judgmental off the bat,” Simmons said in Rolling Out magazine. “They feel like if you have a relationship with God and Jesus Christ, then you’re not allowed to have any fun.”
Simmons said some people may judge her for things that she wears as a Christian.
“I think that’s just wrong when people judge others … especially when you’re not supposed to judge anyway. But I deal with it all the time,” Simmons told Rolling Out. “People will come up to me and say ‘Oh you shouldn’t be wearing that skirt.'”
The 106 & Park host spoke about her response to those people who judge her.
