One of the biggest conventions to come through St. Louis in recent years has re-upped for three more trips.

The Church of God in Christ said Monday it has agreed to hold its annual Holy Convocation in St. Louis each fall through 2016. The largest African-American Pentecostal denomination in the country, the church has come here each November since 2010.

Last year’s convocation brought about 35,000 members — who refer to themselves as “saints” — to America’s Center, and the event this coming November will likely be as big, said church spokesman Robert Coleman. Many downtown hotels are already sold out.

Extending the church’s relationship with the city for three more years is good news for the local economy, said Kathleen “Kitty” Ratcliffe, president of the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission.
