Bishop TD Jakes is a multi-faceted leader who is often called upon to offer up wisdom and insight away
from the pulpit. During a Tuesday, July 17th airing of “Access Hollywood Live,” the articulate pastor
sat down with co-hosts Billy Bush and Kit Hoover to discuss the controversial acquittal of George
Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin case.
“When I came in that Sunday, there was a very strong heaviness that’s very unusual for our
congregation,” Jakes pointed out, noting why he chose to speak directly to the issues surrounding the
case—something he does not typically do.
“And I think that they so empathize with that mother and father who lost their son that day, and there
was a great deal of empathy there.”
