A judge said possible plea deals have been discussed in the case of Cleveland rape and kidnapping suspect Ariel Castro.

The 53-year-old kept his head down again during most of the pretrial hearing Wednesday morning. Castro’s attorneys argued they are not receiving equal access to BCI evidence. Judge Michael Russo said any evidence is available to both parties.

Prosecutors said they were ready for a trial and the defense said they would be if they receive BCI evidence Wednesday.

Jurors have been summoned and a trial is scheduled to start Aug. 5.

Castro’s attorneys said they will provide clothing for their client to wear at a trial.

He has pleaded not guilty to 977 kidnapping and rape charges against him
