Joshua Daniels believes he had a little help from above landing his new job, for which he readily admits he didn’t meet the qualifications.

The round-faced Beaumont teen is a sophomore in college. But on Sunday, he’ll become the spiritual leader to a 190-member church with a history that is more than three times longer than his own.

Daniels, who is 19, is the new reverend for Rising Sun Baptist Church. He is the church’s third pastor in 69 years.
Rising Sun requires applicants to be at least 25, have a master’s degree and experience leading other congregations.
What Daniels lacks in age, he makes up in experience, he said.
He felt his first call to preach at 6, shortly after his father founded a small congregation in Houston.
