Mindless Behavior, the R&B boy group driving crowds wild on tour, will make a stop in Grand Rapids Saturday to perform at pastor and gospel singer Marvin Sapp’s “Back to School Rally.”

“This is actually our 15th year holding the rally and to be able to bring one of the top R&B groups in the country right now to be a part of it is just amazing,” said Sapp, who said a lot of people are not aware that the group’s roots are in the church. “I wanted to do something different for our community and set a fire under our young people.”

Last fall, Sapp opened his performing and fine arts school, the Grand Rapids Ellington Academy of Arts & Technology, located at 600 Burton St. SE. The charter school is expanding this fall from sixth through eighth grade to pre-kindergarten through ninth grade. The plan is to add a grade each year through 12th grade. The Kingdom Square campus also houses Sapp’s Lighthouse Full Life Center Church.
