The Rising Above program lasts four weeks, and helps area men learn networking and job interview skills. It is one of a dozen programs that are offered under the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative .
Each program, like the Hispanic Father, Justice Affairs or Boot Camp for New Dads, is geared to help men learn how to be better fathers. The program is open to any man who would like to learn more about what it takes to be a better Dad.
Derek Walker is learning at the Rising Above Program because he said he’s tired of working in dead-end jobs.
“I’m looking for something that’s going to train me in the field of a trade,” Walker said.
