Seventeen years ago, 9-year-old Crystal Brooks, of Bedford Heights, appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah was impressed with her essay on why she wanted to be a talk show host and invited her onto her show.
On Monday’s Oprah show, Crystal was once again a guest – and a big winner. A total of 300 guests were invited to join Oprah for a week long stay in Australia.
“What better thing to have happen than to have a free trip across the world with Oprah? What’s better than that?” said Brooks.
Crystal is currently teaching 7th grade English at Heskett Middle School in Bedford Heights. She’s hopeful that she will be able to leave her students for a week in order to join Oprah in Sydney.
While in Sydney, Oprah will be taping two more shows that will air sometime in early 2011. Monday’s episode was the first show in Oprah’s final season.
