The American Heart Association is looking for powerful acts to open for award-winning gospel artist Dr. Marvin Sapp in the Power to End Stroke Most Powerful Voices Gospel Tour. The tour – featuring empowering music fused with healthy lifestyle messaging – will begin Oct. 22 in Dallas at Friendship West Baptist Church. It will then swing through Austin, Houston and San Antonio; Little Rock, Ark.; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.

Local gospel entertainers in each of the seven markets will perform at a live audition for Trin-i-tee 5:7, the best-selling gospel trio in the industry. Top acts will then be selected by Trin-i-tee 5:7, and local celebrity judges to open for contemporary gospel newcomer and breakthrough artist Brian Courtney Wilson and Sapp, whose 2007 hit single, “Never Would Have Made It” held the No. 1 spot on gospel radio for nearly a year.

Auditions are open to local gospel groups in two categories: choirs with six or more members or independent artists with less than five members. Artists can compete only in the areas where they live by submitting a demo via the American Heart Association’s Facebook page. “Friends” can vote for and “like” their favorite group. The winners in both categories will open at each city’s Most Powerful Voices concert.
