For the second time in two months, copper was stolen from St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church on Superior Avenue in Cleveland.

Church officials said this past week thieves took copper piping used for two air conditioning units for the church rectory.

On July 1, the same air conditioning copper piping was stolen. Both rectory air conditioners had to be replaced at that time at a cost of $3,500 each.

The church plans to check with the company who installed the air conditioners to see what can be done. Church leaders will also look to secure the area where the units are with fencing and lighting.

The church itself had its own air conditioning units and was not impacted.
