1. CLIMATE CHANGE REPORT

A hot topic: The U.N. is out with its latest climate change report. The conclusion? It’s “extremely likely” that people are to blame for at least half the global warming in the last 60 years. About 1,000 researchers from around the world worked on the report, and another 1,000 reviewed it. These things are always controversial. Look for a spirited debate

2. GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

It’s complicated: The money runs out Tuesday. Here’s your scorecard: Democrats disagree with Republicans, and Republicans disagree with each other. Start brewing the coffee and order carryout, this could be tough. House Republicans were about to roll out their plan to raise the debt limit yesterday when conservatives put their foot down, complaining that budget cuts weren’t deep enough and changes to entitlement programs didn’t go far enough. And don’t forget, the folks on Capitol Hill have to pass some sort of spending plan, too. Throw in Obamacare, and you have some serious roadblocks to get through by Monday at midnight. The furlough notices are ready to go. On second thought, start another pot and put Domino’s on speed dial.
