Reality TV is apparently taking away from some much-needed Bible study time, at least for Pastors Clarence McClendon and Ron Gibson, stars of Oxygen’s upcoming reality show, “Preachers Of LA.”

The two base their prosperity ideology on 3 John 2, claiming these are the words of God, when, in actuality, that scripture is the opening greeting of John the Evangelist, to whom the book is attributed.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth,”both leaders confidently recited the passage verbatim in a promotional clip for the docu series that premieres October 10.

Then, they shared their philosophy that God desires wealth and health for everyone based on the out-of-context interpretation.

“People look at our bling, our cars—us preachers—our fancy houses. They see our glory, but they don’t really know our story,” said Ron Gibson, pastor of Life Church C.O.G.I.C. in Riverside, Ca
