1. OBAMACARE FIASCO

Crash and burn: Plenty of red flags, little action. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admits the President was blindsided by the website meltdown plaguing the sign-up for Obamacare. A team of high-tech experts from within the government and from Silicon Valley are now tackling the issues, Sebelius says. The critics are everywhere, from the White House to Capitol Hill. President Obama promises it’s going to get fixed. Maybe so, but this isn’t the sort of thing you can just put a bandage on.

2. NEVADA SCHOOL SHOOTING

911 calls: Panic and chaos racked Sparks Middle School after a student opened fire this week, killing a teacher and wounding a two other students, emergency calls show. Here’s a sampling: “This is a student at Sparks Middle School. Can you please send police out here? There’s a kid with a gun.” And: “Somebody brought a gun to school. They shot a teacher.” And from a police officer: “I got a kid down who’s been shot.” Police say the 12-year-old shooter took his life with a gunshot to the head.

3. GREECE MYSTERY GIRL

Who does she belong to? About 10 cases of missing children are getting a close look as authorities around the world try to figure out how a Roma couple in Greece ended up with a little girl. The cases include children from the United States, Canada, Poland and France. Authorities have charged the couple with abducting the child they call Maria. Their attorney says they adopted the child from her biological mother. But police say they suspect the records provided for the girl may be false. She’s believed to be 5 to 6 years old.
