While Nicki travels the globe, peddling rhymes about sex, money and vanity, Carol, a Christian evangelist, sings gospel music and carries a message of hope to fellow domestic violence survivors.

As Nicki has shared in past interviews, Robert, her father, once burned the house down with her mother in it. He had attempted to murder his family.
In a 2012 interview with The Trinidad Express Newspaper, Carol opened up about Robert’s crack addiction, erratic behavior, and the shame she felt over being an abused woman. “One winter night, in December 1987, he went into a rage, he was demanding money, he was so angry, and I didn’t have any money,” she said.
