The Capitol Christmas Tree is hitting the road for the holidays.

An 88-foot-tall Engelmann spruce from the Colville National Forest in eastern Washington state will eventually make its way to the National Mall.

The tree will make 26 stops through 11 states before it reaches the Capitol. (You can track the tree’s 5,000 mile journey via .)

The Capitol Christmas Tree has been a tradition since 1964. This year marks the second time that Washington has provided the national tree. In 2006, a Pacific silver fir was provided from the Olympic National Forest.
