You may want to take a closer look at your kids’ Facebook and Twitter pages before they send out their college applications.

A recent study from Kaplan says 31 percent of 381 admissions officers surveyed say they check an applicants Facebook page or other social media pages to learn more about them.

That is up five percent from last year and is the highest percentage yet.

But you may not have to be too worried. The number of admissions officers who say they found something that would hurt an applicant’s chances dropped five percent from last year — to 30 percent.
