TV Land has given the green light to its sitcom “The Soul Man.”

The show, which stars Cedric The Entertainer, Niecy Nash andWesley Jonathan, has received an eight-episode order for a third season.

“The Soul Man” just wrapped its second season three months ago. In addition to airing on TV Land, “The Soul Man” gets a second airing on BET.

Black viewership played a significant part in the renewal of “The Soul Man.” Over the first two seasons, the sitcom averaged a strong 3.7 rating among African-American women ages 25 to 54. The show also marked a 3.0 rating with African-American Adults 25-54.
