The Ohio Department of Transportation is advising drivers to look out for untreated roadways with advice on how to stay safe.

Let your car warm up and completely scrape off your windows. With this ice, it could take a little bit longer than normal to get your windows clear but we want to make sure you can see and be seen,” said ODOT Spokesperson Amanda McFarland.

For the most part, ODOT tells NewsChannel5 the roadways have already been treated but the possibility of rain overnight and the continuing freezing temperatures could make roadways more dangerous for drivers.

Some tips from AAA include:

-Keep your windows clean – make sure you have enough windshield wiper fluid to hel

-Give yourself enough room to brake – try to allow three times more space than normal

-Check your tire pressure – make sure they have enough air, sometimes the cold can deflate tires

-Do not use cruise control in ice and snow-like conditions.
