Among the millions influenced by iconic leader Nelson Mandela is media mogul Oprah Winfrey. Thursday, the OWN Network CEO mourned the passing of the leader who died at 95 with a touching online tribute.

Sharing a photo of the two laughing together and appearing full of Joy, the 59-year-old reflected on the life of South Africa’s first black president and Nobel Peace Prize winner, calling him heroic.

“He was everything you’ve ever heard and more – humble and unscathed by bitterness. And he always loved to tell a good joke. Being in his presence was like sitting with grace and majesty at the same time.”
