The 56th annual Grammy Awards on Friday (Dec. 6) during a concert at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The Grammys is the biggest award in the music industry so it is kind of a big deal to even get nominated even for Christian/Gospel acts.
The 2014 Grammy awards nominations in the Gospel/Contemporary Christian music field holds a few surprises along side a several anticipated nominees. Mandisa and Tye Tribbett both led with three nominations each, Tasha Cobbs earned two nominations in the Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance and Best Gospel Album categories. Natalie grant, Matt Maher and Chris Tomlin all scored two nominations each as well. 2013 Grammy winners Mary Mary and Matt Redman also got nominated for the 2014 awards.
The 56th Grammy Awards will be held on Jan. 26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
