Cleveland cycling advocacy organization Bike Cleveland is up for an award from Bicycling magazine and the Alliance for Biking and Walking.

The magazine is asking people to vote for its Advocacy Award to a state or local bike advocacy organization for its accomplishments over the past year.

Last fall, Bike Cleveland volunteers went to the streets to give 70 cyclists light sets.

Light sets are front and night lights required by Ohio law for cyclists riding on roads at night.

The light sets were paid for with Ohio’s “Share the Road” license plate proceeds.

The event also educated riders about riding at night and using lights to make them more visible to motorists.

Bike Cleveland is one of ten finalists for the award. People’s Choice voting ends Feb. 6.
