The Health Insurance Marketplace will close March 31 for the American Care Act better known as Obama Care. After the deadline those without insurance will be penalized $95 or 1% of their income, whichever is greater.
Community meetings are being held in communities and across the country to help educate people how and why to get this done.
There are two main options.
You can register online at HealthCare.gov or call 211 to connect to the United Way who will set you up with an appointment to meet an application assistant. The assistant will guide you through the entire process so you are registered.
After the March 31 deadline, the penalty will be assessed using the IRS tax system. Registration will not re-open until November 15 for 2015 enrollment.
