Lincoln West High School senior Chanele Foster has been coming to University Hospitals since the beginning of last summer. At first, as an intern, now as an employee.

“It was amazing for me to be like, ‘I can actually say I have a job,'” said Foster proudly.  “And then it’s like, ‘At University Hospital?”

Not a bad reference on a teenage resume.

Foster was one of thousands of teens that signed up for last year’s “My Summer Job” program administered by Youth Opportunities Unlimited(Y.O.U.). The organization matches area teens who want summer work with local companies and organizations that are looking to fill positions.

Y.O.U. is the employer of record and provides the salaries for the teens. Teens benefit by getting work for the summer, companies have the opportunity to evaluate pre-screened workers at no expense to them and the community has up to 4,000 teens that are gainfully employed.
